A 14-year-old student of Eva Adelaja secondary school, Bariga, Lagos, identified as Ogechi Blessing, was reportedly flogged severely for slapping the school’s headgirl on March 16. According to a witness, Ogechi had received a slap after a disagreement with the headgirl, and had returned the slap instead of walking away.
Cane marks on her bare back The headgirl had gone on to report the matter to the school principal, who in turn summoned Ogechi to the staff room, where she was allegedly flogged on her bare back and buttocks by the principal and other teachers.
