The governorship candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, Abubakar Audu, has been buried
according to Islamic rites.
He was buried in his hometown, Ogbonicha, in Ofu
Local Government Area.
Audu, 68, died on Sunday, a day after voting in the
governorship election, sending shock waves across
the country.
Ahead of his burial on Monday, rumours that he had
“woken up” led to wild jubilations in parts of the
state capital, Lokoja.
This came after our correspondent observed
ongoing preparations for his burial at his country
home.
Associates at the burial included his running mate,
Abiodun Faleke, and Senator Dino Melaye.
The state government had on Sunday declared
seven days of mourning after the former governor’s
death was confirmed.
More Details soon…
